The Living Situation
Unfortunately, I really am quite the slacker and haven't posted anything in this blog for quiet some time. I find this disturbing, most of the time I find myself trying to procrastinate and almost always chillin (doin nothing), since I have time to post a well written and proofread blog posting. But alas, I am Andrew Duncan grammar Rebel! Don't hold your breathe for I will never proofread (excluding the times when it is for class).
Sorry, I often go on these rants for no reason. Anyway a lot has happened since I last wrote you but I feel it is a waste of time for me to describe so I am going to write about my host family.I am the only Male to live in a host family from my school. The fear of a host family situation going awry has scared the other men back into boyhood. Jk. I have lived on my own for the past two years and I just cannot handle cooking for myself anymore. Plus my bed is bigger and my experience is more homier and I get nothing but advice. In fact, Madame Germain gives me soo much advice I leave way before i'm supposed to cause she talks my ear off.
If you were to Google 243 Rue Marcadet. You would find my splendid apartment above the Afro-American beauty salon which cannot cut my hair (language barrier). With at most times two dwellers. That would be my host mom and I. She has two kids: Helene (there are accent marks in her name but since I have not a number pad on my net-book it is too much trouble to put them in), who occasionally stays the night. I'm not sure where she lives. And Paul who goes to boarding school and loves his xbox. His grade isn't too great in English so Mme (madame) Germain makes him speak to me in english. I find this very funny because if he were to talk like me his grade would probably become worse. Luckily I speak proper when talking to him. Well my host mom is a flight hostess (head flight hostess, explains a lot ). She is sometimes here for all the week of she is here for none of the week. Nevertheless, she makes sure I have food (including a salad and vegetables, of which my grandma is very happy about). Tangent time: So speaking of how my grandmother would love the fact I am eating vegetables; I let Mme Germain speak with my grandmother over skype, mistake. They got along great and now Mme Germain has made it her job to make me into a perfect refined young gentleman. Don't worry i been resisting. She has a sister who lives right across the hall. She is at times substitute mom. She comes over when Mme Germain is gone and makes sure I eat dinner, especially a salad (I have the worst luck escaping healthy food). She is a very nice lady, probably one of the best host mothers ever according to my comrades here in Paris I am treated like a god. Although I do enjoy this comparison a little it is not fair to say because I try to help her with stuff and she just kicks me out of the kitchen or wherever she is cleaning. She did let (actually made me) me vacuum my own room the other day. We are making progress. Mme Germain and Paul have playful arguments which make me feel right at home I love it.
One of Madame Germain's favorite things to do is make comparisons about between the United States and France. She tells me the myths about the United States and I gladly confirm or deny them. But alas, that is another post.
A+ (a plus (A plus tard ( French for later ( taught to me by Nelly host Aunt))))
